Coaching
Your Self-Service features two Employee Relations components: Coaching and Corrective Action. Coaching is used to create Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and to document formal coaching sessions with employees who are not meeting performance expectations. Corrective Action is used when an employee violates company policy.
Coaching is part of the supervisory process. Supervisors should meet with the employee informally to let the employee know that they are not meeting performance expectations or behave carelessly. If the employee's performance doesn't improve, the Supervisor should meet with their direct Supervisor and HR Rep and then create the PIP in Your Self-Service.
The PIP will include:
- The employee's current performance,
- Performance expectations,
- The improvement time frame, and
- The consequences for failing to improve.
Coaching documents must be reviewed and approved by your direct Supervisor and HR Rep before being administered to your employee.
